As probably some of you already know, our headquarter is based in Leipzig, where Marcus is living. I live in Barcelona since a year and love it. So I want to discuss two topics today.
First, how is possible to maintain and actually found a company if the founders basically never see each other and how do we communicate. Well I can tell you I think it would be much more easier to be in the same city and to meet on a regular basis after work and to work together. I think I would be even more motivated to see Marcus working at the same time like me. But since that is not possible we figured out how to still keep going by working remotely. At least once a week we have a meeting and tell each other what we have done so far and talk about the following to do's for the next days. We committed ourselves to more or less stay in contact each day and sometimes we have phone calls if something is urgent or someone of us just has again another crazy idea where to move with the company next :-) However I think it helps a lot that we are both committed, we know each other for such a long time and most importantly trust each other, which is obviously one of the company's values as well, otherwise it wouldn't be possible. And since my family and a lot of friends are still living in Leipzig I am there on a regular basis as well.
Second, I thought - since I am living in one of the most beautiful cities of Europe and our company is called "The Wanderer" - why not giving you my best recommendations for Barcelona. I am sure that many of you have been here already or are willing to come in the near future, so here is my must do list of Barcelona (I tried to keep it as short as possible and to really only recommend my favourite places).
1. Brunch
- Go to "Ugot" to have late breakfast/brunch and enjoy some of the best eggs benedict or other specialities in this awesome place 2. Dinner
- I recommend FOC, awesome South American food
- Cachaca for a dinner date with your love, great food in a cozy small location
- "Sensei", which is a Tapas chain of 5 Restaurants. All of them are really good and I recommend to reserve a table upfront since all of the 5 Restaurants are always fully booked for most of the times 3. Rooftops
- Edition Hotel, just opened and this rooftop is just insanely beautiful. I like the atmosphere, the style and on Thursday, Friday and Saturday they even have a DJ.
- The rooftop of the Hotel Grand Central
- La Terrace of Sagardi 1881 4. Leisure
- Rent a scooter and discover the city by driving up to Tibitabo, where you have a view over the whole city
- Go to the beach and take the cable car to Montjuic 5. Sunsets
- Go to the Bunkers, the most famous spot in Barcelona to watch the sunset there.
I hope you come to Barcelona, if so let me know :-) And if you try the one or the other suggestion from me, let me know if you liked it. I am always open for new tips as well. You can also ask me for more things, there are so many good restaurants, didn't even know where to start :-) The Wanderer
